Yeaker Named 2023 Rich Murray Journalism Scholarship Recipient

LEXINGTON, Va. - Standing out from a large pool of applicants, Isaac Yeaker of Mills E. Godwin High School (Richmond, Va.) has been named the 2023 recipient of the Virginia Sports Information Directors' (VaSID) annual Rich Murray Journalism Scholarship.
Yeaker spent three years on staff of the school newspaper, the Eagles' Eyrie, progressing from a staff writer as a sophomore, sports page editor as a junior and as the Editor-in-Chief as a senior. On top of the school newspaper, he served as the Senior Class President and played on the varsity basketball, volleyball and tennis teams.
In addition to membership with the National Honor Society, the National English Honor Society, the Spanish Club and the Jewish Student Union, Isaac volunteered for Feedmore, the Friendship Circle and the Spirit of Baseball organizations.
This fall, he will attend Virginia Tech where he will study multimedia journalism and already has a position lined up to work as a student manager for the men's basketball team.
He aspires to one day work in sports journalism.
