Virginia, Liberty and Richmond Collect Top VaSID Field Hockey All-State Honors
Liberty’s Reagan Underwood and Virginia’s Suze Leemans were named VaSID Field Hockey Co-Players of the Year, while UVA’s Jans Croon collected Defensive Player of the Year honors. RICHMOND, Va. – Liberty's Reagan Underwood and Virginia's Suze Leemans were named VaSID Field Hockey Co-Players of the Year, while UVA's Jans Croon collected Defensive Player of the Year honors. The University of Richmond's Valen Luna Paratore was named Rookie of the Year accolades as UVA's head coach, Ole Keusgen has been named VaSID Coach of the Year.
Underwood, a fifth-year senior midfield, started all 18 games for Liberty during the fall 2024 campaign and tallied one goal, five assists, seven points and one defensive save. She received NFHCA All-South Region first team recognition, her second straight year making an all-region team. She received All-BIG EAST first team accolades this fall and was a BIG EAST All-Tournament team selection. Underwood was also tabbed to the NFHCA Division I Senior Team and NFHCA All-America second team honoree.
In her first season playing collegiate field hockey, Leemans scored four goals in her first four games, earning the ACC Offensive Player of the Week award in the second week of the season. The All-ACC First Team honoree scored goals in each of the Cavaliers' NCAA tournament games, including the game-winner against Michigan to send UVA to the NCAA Quarterfinals. She finished the year with seven goals and two assists for 16 points. The grad student midfielder also collected third team NFHCA All-America honors.
Croon, the first player in Virginia program history to be named the ACC Defensive Player of the Year, helped anchor a backline defense that logged five shutouts this season. The first-team All-ACC honoree was also an offensive asset, scoring four goals with four assists, including two in the NCAA tournament. The senior back also collected third team NFHCA All-America accolades.
Luna Paratore, a first year forward for the Spiders, collected NFHCA All-South second team honors after a standout fall season. She finished second with 25 total points on 12 goals and one assist, while starting in all 19 contests as a forward. She was named A-10 Rookie of the Week four times, the most in program history since the 2005 season. She had a career day against Lock Haven with a seven-point game including her first career hat trick and an assist on the team's fourth goal. Luna Paratore also collected Atlantic 10 All-Conference First Team and All-Rookie Team honors.

VaSID names 44 all-state teams in 23 sports annually, an Academic All-State squad and an all-sports champion in both the University and College Divisions. Membership in VaSID is open to all media relations professionals working at a university or conference in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
