VaSID Announces College Division All-State Football Teams

WINCHESTER, Va. – The Virginia Sports Information Directors Association (VaSID) released its 2024 College Division All-State football teams on Thursday, with Randolph-Macon College leading the way with two major awards and 13 selections across the two teams.
Randolph-Macon head coach Pedro Arruza was named Coach of the Year, while kicker Kyle Ihle earned Special Teams Player of the Year honors. Shenandoah University's Steven Hugney was selected as Offensive Player of the Year, and Washington and Lee's Jalen Todd claimed Defensive Player of the Year. The Rookie of the Year awards went to Southern Virginia's Alex Silvester on offense and Averett's Joziah Campbell on defense.
Arruza led the Yellow Jackets to the third round of the NCAA Championships, posting a 10–2 record and securing the program's third consecutive Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Championship. Coach Arruza now has 141 career victories through 21 seasons at RMC.
Hugney, a senior quarterback for Shenandoah, passed for over 2,300 yards and added 413 rushing yards while accounting for 25 total touchdowns across 11 starts. His efforts helped SU reach postseason play for the first time in 20 years, earning him the ODAC J. Stokely Fulton Offensive Player of the Year award in November.
Todd, a senior linebacker from Louisville, Kentucky, was named an All-American by three organizations this season and was recognized as the ODAC's Lou Wacker Defensive Player of the Year. He tallied 124 total tackles, including 5.5 tackles for loss.
Ihle, a First Team All-ODAC kicker, converted 49 of 52 extra point attempts and made seven field goals, including a season-long 45-yarder. He recorded at least five PATs in six games and averaged 62.5 yards per kickoff in 12 appearances.
Silvester, the Offensive Rookie of the Year, led Southern Virginia in receiving with 33 catches for 449 yards and three touchdowns. The Houston, Texas native also served as the team's punter, amassing 2,617 yards on 73 punts, with 11 landing inside the 20-yard line. His performance earned him USA South Offensive Rookie of the Year honors.
Campbell, a cornerback from Dumfries, Virginia, led the ODAC with six interceptions and was named ODAC Rookie of the Year. He also contributed two blocked kicks, three pass breakups, and a sack during his rookie campaign.
Hugney headlines the First Team Offense, joined by running backs Jacob Romero (Washington and Lee) and Kwesi Clarke (Randolph-Macon), wide receivers Ethan Dowdy (Hampden-Sydney) and Cam Abshire (Emory & Henry), and tight end Landon Farriss (Randolph-Macon). The offensive line features David Munoz (Shenandoah), Harrison Donovan (Washington and Lee), Amaan Miller (Christopher Newport), Storm James (Randolph-Macon), and Myles Bridges (Randolph-Macon).
Todd and Campbell anchor the First Team Defense alongside defensive linemen Will Mahmud (Washington and Lee), Quincy Robinson (Bluefield), Wade Grubbs (Randolph-Macon), and Owen Arruza (Randolph-Macon). Linebackers Daniel Eliasek (Randolph-Macon) and Matt Conroy (Shenandoah) join the list, along with cornerback Sean Perry (Shenandoah) and safeties Charlie Fleming (Washington and Lee) and Noah Martin (Christopher Newport).
Special teams selections include Ihle as the placekicker, William Hutton (Ferrum) as the punter, and Brandan Robinson (Bridgewater) as the return specialist.
