CNU Leads Men’s Lacrosse All-State Honors with Three Major Awards

FERRUM, Virginia – The Virginia Sports Information Directors have selected the 2025 VaSID College Division Men's Lacrosse All-State Team, and Christopher Newport University grabbed three of the four top awards.
Player of the Year honors went to CNU's Kevin Miller, while Jackson Platner earned Rookie of the Year and Mikey Thompson was named Coach of the Year. Randolph-Macon College's Mike Allen collected Defensive Player of the Year to round out the top awards.
Miler earned first team All-America (USILA) and second team All-America (USA Lacrosse) after racking up 115 points on 34 goals and 81 assists. He led the nation in both goals and assists.
Allen was second team All-American (USILA), third team All-America (USA Lacrosse), first team All-ODAC and ODAC Defensive Player of the Year for the Yellow Jackets. He posted 15 points on nine goals and six assists, and added 69 ground balls and 32 caused turnovers.
Platner is one of just two freshmen to earn All-America (USILA) honors in CNU program history. He tallied 47 points this season on 24 goals and 23 assists.
Thompson led CNU to the NCAA Div. III Tournament quarterfinals for the fifth straight year, closing the season with an 18-4 record. The Captains beat five nationally-ranked teams along the way and saw eight players earn All-America.
Joining Miller and Platner on the All-State first team were CNU teammates Jamie Smith, Mark Davidson and Mason Bellinger. Hillis Burns, Elliot Cohen and Tyler Spano from Washington and Lee University were all first team selections, as were Roanoke College's Julian Kammerman and Weston Hammons.
Allen was Randolph-Macon's lone first team selection, while Keegan Shipe was the lone pick from University of Mary Washington and Jake Rust the lone soldier from University of Lynchburg.

VaSID names 44 all-state teams in 23 sports annually, an Academic All-State squad and an all-sports champion in both the University and College Divisions. Membership in VaSID is open to all media relations professionals working at a university or conference in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
