Schleusner Brings in Two Major VaSID Women’s Basketball Awards

NEWPORT NEWS, VA. - The Virginia Sports Information Directors Association (VaSID) released its 2024-25 College Division All-State women's basketball teams Monday, with Washington & Lee's Mary Schleusner bringing home two major awards in addition to first team honors.
Schleusner was named the Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year by the association. The junior from Charlotte, North Carolina, was a unanimous first team All-American after being named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference's (ODAC) Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year. She is the current record holder in the ODAC for career rebounds and holds the career records at W&L for points, blocks and rebounds. She became the single season record holder for the Generals in rebounds and rebounds per game this season as well. The leader in Division III in rebounds, rebounds per game and double-doubles, she was a three time player of the week in the nation by the USBWA and averaged a double-double of over 21 points per game and nearly 19 rebounds per contest with 2.9 blocks and 1.6 steals per contest.
Roanoke's Paige Breuer was named the VaSID Rookie of the Year, matching her honor from the ODAC and d3hoops.com All-Region 6. Breuer led the ODAC this season in free throw percentage at 90.1 percent, becoming the first freshman in 12 years to lead the conference in the category. She was also in the top-5 nationally in the statistical category and set the single season mark in Maroon program history along the way. Breuer was sixth in the ODAC in scoring this season at 13 points per outing was named to the ODAC's second-team All-Conference.
Randolph-Macon's Lindsey Burke-Eberhart was voted as the Coach of the Year after going 29-2 with a perfect 16-0 mark in ODAC play. The 29 wins marked the second most in school history on their way to winning both the ODAC regular season and tournament championships. Burke-Eberhart was named the ODAC Coach of the Year, D3Hoops.com Region VI Coach of the Year and a WBCA National Coach of the Year finalist after leading the Yellow Jackets to their first Sweet 16 appearance since the 2006-07 season.
Highlighting the first team, alongside Schleusner was Randolph-Macon's Catherine Kagey and McKenzie Matheny, Shenandoah's Terese Greene and Christopher Newport's Hannah Orloff. Joining Breuer on the second team were CNU's Gabbi San Diego and Camille Malager, Randolph's Kylie Stark and Bridgewater's Jaden Alsberry.
