HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Virginia Sports Information Directors have selected the 2025 VaSID College Division Women's Lacrosse All-State Team and four different schools were represented in the year's major awards.
The VaSID Women's Lacrosse Player of the Year went to Brookelyn Morris of Christopher Newport, while the Defensive Player of the Year was Washington and Lee's Libby Ford. Rookie of the Year honors went to Makenzie Mickelsen of Southern Virginia and the VaSID Women's Lacrosse Coach of the Year was Lindsey Lutz, the skipper from Shenandoah University.
Christopher Newport's Brookelyn Morrison was named the VaSID Player of the Year, after a 2025 season that saw the junior named an IWLCA and USA Lacrosse Magazine All-American. She was also named First Team All-Region and First Team All-Coast-to-Coast. She led the league in ground balls (42) and caused turnovers (43) while also ranking second in the conference with 98 draw controls and seventh with 46 points (30 goals and 16 assists). She was one of only 12 players in the entire NCAA to finish the year with at least 40 takeaways, 40 ground balls, 40 draw controls, and 40 points. Her 43 caused turnovers marked the second-highest total in CNU history, and her 98 draw controls slotted her fourth in school lore.
On the defensive side of the field, Washington and Lee's team co-captain led the charge with a stellar year. Ford was named a First Team USA Lacrosse All-American and Second Team IWLCA All-American. She garnered First Team All-Region honors as well. On the conference level, she was named the ODAC Defensive Player of the Year and First Team All-ODAC, as well as part of the ODAC All-Tournament Team. She earned the W&L Mchenry Scholar Athlete award and was a Pre-season All-America, Honorable Mention - USA Lacrosse.
Mickelsen, a first-year from Southern Virginia, was named the VaSID Women's Lacrosse Rookie of the Year after a season that saw her score 50 goals and pick up 16 assists, for 66 points. She also had 101 draw controls and 39 ground balls. Those numbers led to her being named the USA South Rookie of the Year as well as a First Team All-USA South midfielder.
The Hornets made an appearance in the ODAC Championship for the first time since 2013 and picked up 13 wins on the season, which helped Lutz pick up VaSID Women's Lacrosse Coach of the Year honors. The 13 wins is tied for the second most in a single season and their eight ODAC wins are tied for the most in program history. During the regular season, Shenandoah picked up three ranked wins: a win over Christopher Newport, and back-to-back wins over Roanoke College. SU had seven players named All-ODAC, including four first-teamers.
